| I was hoping to catch some road power leaning into this curve, so I became excited when I heard a train approaching in the distance. I paced back and forth along this embankment searching for the ideal angle. I was a little disappointed when the train entered the viewfinder because it wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, but any train is better than no train. Here a CN locomotive, GTW 4905, approaches the Main St. overpass as it traverses the west leg of the wye as it returns to the north end of the former SOO yard at Neenah, WI on 19 Jun. '15. The north and east legs of the wye are in the background. The defunct and partially demolished Fox Valley Energy Center (formerly Minergy Fox Valley Glass Aggregate Plant) is on the left. Opened in Jan. '98, it has stood idle since 15 Jun. '13. The demolition has been on hold for a few weeks due to a contract dispute between the owner and the demolition contractor. |
