Old Frisco Depot
Here's the Old Frisco Depot in Pocahontas, AR. The entire asphalt platform also exists, unused by a railroad since the Frisco Hoxie Branch was abandoned in 1965. There is also part of a switch visible in the road just north of the depot.

Remarkable reminder of a by-gone age - I hope the owners keep it in the tip top condition it appears to be in this picture - who owns it now - very strong religious feelings in that area?

The Hoxie sub was not closed until after 1968 or '69. I know that because during the summers of '67 & '68, I relieved Agent E.Z. Basket for his vacation. There was still a fair amount of business in Pocahontas at that time as Baker Propane Co. recxeived several tank cars of LPG each month, and there was still a lot of timber moving through Pokey, as well. It may be the case that the sub from Pokey north was abandoned by '65, though, as all trains came from and returned to Hoxie, if I recall correctly.
