"World Famous Horseshoe Curve," Page 55, 1973         
Here is page 55 of a 64-page booklet published by Harry P. Albrecht entitled "World Famous Horseshoe Curve, Altoona, Pennsylvania Railroad." It was first issued in September of 1973. Partial Caption: "Build at the Altoona Works in 1919, the Class HC-1s (2-8-8-0) simple mallet locomotive stands beside a train of West Jersey & Seashore wooden MU coaches on exhibition at Tennessee Ave., Atlantic City, 1924." Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3700, the HC-1S (2-8-8-0) built in Juniata during June of 1919 and retired in August of 1929 after just a decade of revenue service. The name of the Hostler pictured here is not recorded.
