Here is the fourth of four original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken from the 17th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6722, an M-1A (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during May of 1930 and retired in August of 1955 after 25 years of faithful service. In this context, it's just exited the East Altoona Roundhouse and has now arrived at the Locomotive Ready Tracks. |
