Something that was not seen very often on the Gulf Mobile & Ohio was a lone Alco heading across the Southern Railway's Lake Pontchartrain trestle on its way to New Orleans. The GM&O would run an extra train on regular train No. 33's schedule if there was an unusually heavy amount of southbound traffic there, or if No. 33 was running late and they wanted to get some Bogalusa cars to connecting roads at New Orleans. We don't know what the situation was here, but it made for an interesting and pleasant sight. (approximate day and month) |
