Amtrak. Here is an original photo that I took of an Amtrak passenger train in Larchmont, New York, on 7 June 1981. Shown here is Amtrak engine #919, an AEM7 built by GM-EMD in January of 1981 and rated at 7,000 horsepower. In this context, it's pulling a seven-car passenger train from New Haven to Washington. Note the 39-foot lengths of "stick rail" on three of the four tracks! |
