CRI&P C415 421, Blue Island, Illinois, October 1979, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Built in November 1966 (c/n 3451-07), it was owned by an equipment trust jointly owned by Railcar Leasing Corporation (units 415-419) and the Union Pacific (units 420-424). When the Rock Island shut down in 1980, the C415's were returned to their respective owners/lessors, with the UP retiring their five in December 1980. Number 421 was sold to Brandon Corporation, June 23, 1981, used for parts, stored at Omaha, Nebraska, and scrapped after February 1990. |
