Recently-repainted Southern Pacific GP9 3007 was on the ready track at New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal, and was going to be the trailing unit on the westbound SUNSET. It was built in 1955 as the 5625 and was renumbered to the 3007 in the 1965 renumbering. At this time the unit still had dual cab controls, as shown by the wings on the long hood; but it lost its bi-directional controls when it was upgraded into GP9R 3190 in 1977.
