Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad PMC (Passenger Motor Car) 9845 & E8 9937B at Saint Joseph, Missouri on June 22, 1957 by Dick , Kodachrome by Rumbolz, Chuck Zeiler collection. An unfortunate shadow, or perhaps an unfortunate spotting of the gas-electric, at least from a photographic point of view. This photo shows the E unit painted in the as-delivered black "whisker" stripes on the nose. This was the first E8 delivered to the CB&Q (c/n 9674), built in December 1949, retired and sold for scrap Mxy 28, 1975. All the CB&Q E8's and E9's were delivered with black "whiskers", and it was not until 1959 that the red "whiskers" were first applied. This E8 also shows the coupler covers (in the open position) applied to the E's and subsequently removed. |
