San Francisco Muni "F-Line" PCC car 1060 rolls along the Embarcadero. Painted to Honor Philadelphia, No. 1060 was built in 1947 by the St. Louis Car Company for Philadelphia as car No. 2715 and was acquired by SF Muni from SEPTA in 1992. Car No. 1060 was originally painted to represent Newark, New Jersey. In November of 2002, the car suffered severe body damage when she took a curve at Market and Steuart too fast, jumped the track, and hit a lightpost. Muni repainted her in the 1938 silver and blue Philadelphia livery originally worn by wrecked PCC No. 1054. One of the actual Newark PCCs acquired by Muni in 2003with Market Street Railway's supportwill be painted in the historic livery previously worn by No. 1060. |
