Amtrak 9321, named SILVER TOWER, at Beech Grove, Indiana on February 4, 1987, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 9321 was built by Budd on Job 9652-112, ordered in March 1951, delivered in December 1952 as CB&Q 366. Budd delivered two domes on this Job, number 365, named SILVER TERRACE, and number 366, named SILVER TOWER, both were 1 Drawing Room and 27 seat Parlor configuration and assigned to the Kansas City Zephyr. The blunt end permitted combining the KCZ with the Nebraska Zephyr as far as Galesburg. Listed as retired by Amtrak in March 1993, it is seen here parked at Beech Grove in 1987. |
