Viewing Album: Box Cars, Rolling Stock 2 of 4
By:
Rodney J. Sorensen
Dates:
11/3/2005 - 2/24/2006
Album Info:
Box Cars are one of the things I still like best about railroading. The colors, sizes and shapes, lengths, heights and fancy lettering or nice billboard heralds. Once the pride of the company . . . now they are in danger of being replaced by containers completely and outright. I do not think this will happen, but it could. There are far fewer box cars on the rails than perhaps one would think. When I was first learning to 'watch' trains, they had high brake wheels and roof walks. It has been sometime since then and it would seem they are all but gone now. Who could have know the world would go global . . . and not just state to state? A lot has changed, but not my love for the old rusty box car.
