Album Info: | Our annual bicycling/train chasing/antiquing pilgrimage took us to northern Ohio, where my wife and I bicycled around the towns along the lake, from Port Stanley, Ontario, through Toledo, Port Clinton, Bellevue, Marblehead, Sandusky and Ashtabula, Ohio. Through a totally weird series of coincidences and chance encounters with friendly locals, we were advised to head to Highway 4 and 20, where the Norfolk Southern Bellevue Yard is located. I didn't quite know what to expect, but was blown away by all the train action in the yard on this beautiful spring morning. We also found out, from a MofW worker below the overpass where we were perched, that a steam train would be coming through the area later in the day. So we were lucky enough to catch Nickel Plate Road 765 steaming into Bellevue just after lunch. |
