Album Info:Today, June 2010, the East Providence Branch runs from Cumberland, Rhode Island - Valley Falls, to a point past Metals USA on the former East Junction. In February 2008, the East Junction was combined under the East Providence Branch. These two branches are now connected by a new continuos connector or loop by Tanner Industries, linking the East Providence with the East Junction. Served Monday thru Friday by PR-2, crews no longer need to call on or off the East Junction. Previously the East Junction ran from the junction by the Red Bridge in East Providence to the Amtrak Northeast Corridor in Attleboro, Massachusetts, with the Providence and Worcester operating the East Junction from the Red Bridge to the MBTA interchange at East Junction. Active customers on the combined East Providence starting from Valley Falls; State Line Scrap; Teknor Apex; Quebecor Printing/Packaging Graphics; United Paper; Key Container; Baer Supply; Atlantic Plywood; Pond View - Transload America Recycling; Tanner Industries; Homestead Baking; Metals USA and lately the MBTA with occasional gondolas of used concrete ties. And March 18, 2008 a new customer at the Darlington Yards with 2 or 3 cars a year of landscaping materials is rumored though only shipped once. Because of the economy, the delayed diesel fuel load facility for Capital Terminal Company on the short segment between King Philip Road and Dexter Road has been delayed. Narragansett Pellets was a customer for a short time, but the wood scraps and sawdust was to fine for converting into wood pellets and since found a new supply, but sadly, product is now trucked to their location. William J. Canaan no longer receives produce. The photos in this album are arranged chronologically starting in Valley Falls to the MBTA interchange on the East Junction, with a photo set up at the end for miscellaneous photos. George Washington Whistler was the chief engineer for the East Junction project and father of James Abbott McNeill Whistler.
