Album Info: | Jeddo Coal Company #85 "Mack" is a 0-4-0T saddle tank engine built by Vulcan Iron Works in 1928 for the A.E. Dick Construction Company and used in PA anthracite country. He is the same size and configuration as Flagg Coal #75, "Hank".
Mack was soon sold to the Jeddo-Highland Coal Company at West Pittston PA, where he stayed until the early 1960's. At that time he was purchased by Gordon Brinthrop and moved to Horseheads, New York. John found and photographed him parked behind a diner there in 1993. John and Barney Gramling purchased the engine in 2007 and moved it to their shop in Indiana for restoration. On the weekend of September 9-10, 2017, "Mack" made its first passenger excursions after a 6-year restoration by the Gramling Locomotive Works. The Allentown & Auburn Railroad of Kutztown PA was the tank engines second stop. Engine specs: Construction No.:3885 Empty Weight: 82,000 lbs. Weight on Drivers: 82,000 lbs. Driver Diameter: 36 in.
