Album Info: | The Great Western Railway operates a small network of track in Northern Colorado and serves Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor, Johnstown and several other communities. The bulk of traffic originates/terminates in the Great Western Industrial Park in Windsor. Oil, Frac sand, turbine blades, lumber and ethanol make up the majority of commodities handled. It is not uncommon for the GWR to handle 750 cars a week. The GWR no longer has locomotives lettered for the railroad and relies on SD40 and GP38-2 lease units. Road power from BNSF, UP, NS and CSX are frequently seen in Windsor. The GWR interchanges with the BNSF in Fort Collins, Loveland and Longmont; the UP in Fort Collins and Milliken. |
