Description:  A sign for the Return Court grade crossing (in background) warns motorists trains won't sound horns if the use the tail vrack ahead. "Exempt" signs, alas, are probably in the future for this crossing with Ford shutting its plant down in December of 2011.

Footbridge connects neighborhood on north side to school on south. Grade crossing is for Edgcumbe Roax. Note the vintage Milwaukee Road switch stand in the right background. Tracks curving away in left foreground lead to the doomed plant.

Description:  A GE and EMD on the point of a loaded eastbound coal train sit witj their engines idle after meeting an empty westbound coal job. In a few minutes the hogger will bring them alive and depart as soon as the track warrant arrives. I had no time to wait to see this, and catch the DPU on the back, because I had pizza to get home!

Description:  The hogger gets a wheel into an eastbotnd freight as it clears the Wayzata siding a click west of the Wayzata depot and approaches the Barry Avenue crossing and depot grounds with air horns sounding. Couple mikutes after he cleared, it began to rain.

Description:  Once again a train passes Bandana Square within sight of the Minnesota State Fair Sky Tower. In this case a mixed freight with a lone NS unit on the point. Oddly enough, I saw the tail end of this train as it sat stopped just northwest of the U of M Transitway bridge past Union Junction. Must have hit a red signal.

Description:  The power on a MNNR train back from the Hiawatha mills in Minneapolis runs around its train on a side track at Amtrak Midway prior to shoving it up into their yard. The brakeman riding the steps was a real nice dude when I cheerfully greeted them and the old white mustached hogger gave me a wave. Gentlemen, you are a true credit to the industry!

Description:  The sign on the right side of the signal demonstrates the tight squeeze from here up to past the trestles over a tributary of Cedar Lake. The footprint of the old yard begins to widen out past that point. Tight space supposedly justifies kicking the TC&W off the line in favor of building LRT here.
